DEPARTMENT FOR CONSERVATION

CONSERVATION OF THE ARTISTIC WEALTH OF CYPRUS

The Centre’s Department for Conservation undertakes the restoration of archaeological objects, icons, iconostases, murals, and other art works. International students

in Conservation/Restoration are accepted for practical training or for their bachelor’s project upon application.

The conservation work is done with the collaboration of all specialists as required (Archaeologist, Art Historian, Conservator of Art Works, Architect, Photographer…).

Decisions on interventions are always collective. Digital written and photographic documentation for every art work conserved is stored in the Centre’s ARCHIVES. For 20 years now, an important material from all over Cyprus have been conserved by the Centre.

A publication is being prepared on these 20 years of works of conservation.
